Easy methods to Make a Succulent Pumpkin

How to Make a Succulent Pumpkin

Autumn is one of the best times of the year. It means colorful changing leaves, sweet treats, family celebrations, and of course, decorations! I am always looking for nice and fun decorations to decorate my home. When I came across this Fine Gardening article from issue 177, “Create an Fall Masterpiece” I knew I had to try and make this juicy pumpkin for my home. In this video you will learn all the steps to make your own juicy pumpkin decoration.

Materials needed

  • pumpkin
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Succulents
  • Flower pens
  • Spray adhesive
  • Glue gun or sticky glue

Steps for making a juicy pumpkin

  1. Remove the pumpkin stem.
  2. Lightly spray the top of the pumpkin with glue. Press dry sphagnum moss onto the adhesive.
  3. Experiment with the layout of the pumpkin before securing the succulents.
  4. When you’re happy with your layout, glue the succulents onto the pumpkin.
  5. Add flower pens to make the succulents safer. Keep in mind that too many pens can cause the pumpkin to spoil faster.

When your juicy pumpkin is ready, display it in a cool, light, and dry place. The pumpkin should look great for weeks! Spray the succulents with water every now and then. Just don’t pour the pumpkin over it, or it may rot.

After a few weeks, when the pumpkin starts to soften, it’s time to break the arrangement. Repot the succulents in well-drained potting soil or a tray made of sand or perlite and display in a sunny window. Have fun and have a nice autumn!
