If you’re looking for a cheap thrill, candles are it. Of course you have the fragrant – smoky firewood, light green figs, sparkling flowers … There is nothing like taking a deep breath of candle-scented air and letting it flow out as a calming and downright yogic ahhh. However, sometimes a scented candle is just not appropriate. Like when you’re cooking dinner. Or if you already have your diffuser (or other scented candle) on.
That doesn’t mean you have to forego the warm, dripping joy that a good candle brings – a new menagerie of unscented candles is here to fill the old classic pillar (and your mantle) with color, texture, and wobbly shape To update. [Ed note: OK, fine, the Loewe one is scented. But it’s still more of an objet than your run-of-the-mill candle, don’t you think?] Unlit they are interesting sculptures, but ignite the wick and turn into shimmering magpie magnets that can liven up any surface. You can even take the party outside where a scented candle is wasted but an unscented candle serves as a quirky light source while you enjoy the final nights of the barkyard meal. Not that you need to convince – if you’re like us, at least one of these candles is already in your shopping cart, and you haven’t completed this paragraph yet.
